BSB – Forgot About The Charm City Fashion Show

420?

Lust4Life at Dionysus 4.20

In my recent post about a better one-two punch than blowing money on a Mike Tyson talk show, I forgot to include the Charm City Fashion Show. If you include this with Lust4Life tonight and Tommy Largo featured Gumball show at Red Maple tomorrow night, there is no shortage of cutting edge cool stuff to get into instead of over priced re-treading of Tyson’s well told zaniness or some sub-par to downright poor cover band performances, many times equally over priced.

Promotion of the show is from Urbanite, Gutter Magazine, PEDX, and Mothers among others. Designs to be featured include but are not limited to South Moon Under, Urban Chic Boutique, and Hanger Alley. For details check out Gutter Mag (Guttermagazine.com). With L4L and Gumball, I would qualify this as a TKO… Not a win by decision. Take that Mike.

Speaking of cutting edge forward thinking, here is the second video in the Sleight Of Hand series by No Brainer records.

I especially like they seem to be concentrating on making good dance music without adhering to a style or sub-genre label. See this:

See the No Brainer channel for more kickin’ music and video: http://www.youtube.com/user/NoBrainerRecords/featured

And a disclaimer that most of you know about my DJ sets; most of my music is from crate digging and data mining, NOT bought. Hence on that note, here is your BSB.

BSB – Brand Spankin’ Bought

  • Slap In The Bass – Egypt
  • Keith & Supabeatz vs Slap In The Bass – Smoka
  • Coyote Cuts WMC Sampler Part 1
  • Joey Negro pres. Z Factor – Sounds In The Air
  • Dario D’Attis – I Dont Care EP

Lust4Life 4.20.2012

1st Not 2nd–Friday That Is

Our Lust4Life project has always worked to bring you some of the best music selectors from Baltimore that you might not have had a chance to hear.  We will also work with various charitable causes from time to time making our party a party for a cause.

At L4L we also know that you have a life outside of party going.  So we have worked to be accessible and affordable–thus the intimate locations that L4L has been hosted at through the years.  In that regard, we are moving away from the 2nd Friday of the month.

In February, L4L will be on the 1st Friday of the month, Feb 3.  We are still at Dionysus, 3rd (top) floor and we still have great music and dancing planned for you.  And for Friday nights after you’ve had a stressful week at work it’s supposed to be this easy.  Just come up the stairs, get a drink, order some food, and dance.  It doesn’t matter if you are an old friend or a new friend, you are welcome at Lust4Life.  it doesn’t matter if you are a Baltimore native or just in town for the night, this is one of the best way to burn off the stress and calories.

So tell your friends about the awesome pressure reliever, Lust4Life.  What better way to kick off your weekend?

Lust4Life February

All Vinyl

It’s our first Lust4Life of the 2012 year and we are kickin’ it off with some down-home b-more flavor.  Craig Nasteef has been a maestro for some time.  He is throwing down with B-Side and I this Friday and he is bringing an all-vinyl set.

Yep,  all vinyl!!!

In the mean time, above is an sample of some Acid and Minimal House from him.

Lust4Life featuring Craig Nasteef

An all vinyl DJ set...

I’ll be slipping in a few new original sexy-cool pieces that I have co-produced with Toronto based DJ and producer, Melanie Sutherland.  B-Side also will be laying down some beats, Elly D Funk helps me host, and Ange has the perfect pour.

So, don your dancing shoes.  Bring your girl friends and your guy friends.   We are gonna have a House Party, L4L style….

Added for future L4L line-ups:

March – Mark  Castley (Blue Gritt Records)

April – DJ Kochi (ScandalDC, iNK House)

Lust4Life re-launches

Lust4Life :: Not A Comeback feat. Calvin Garner

Remember, packing 200 people into a small room and sweating out the night? Remember the smallish corner bar that seem to always have the hottest music around? Remember saying to people that you never know who you were going to run into or what would happened at Lust4Life??

We have re-launched that intimate feeling, this time at Dionysus. The same party that had the luck to host such House music legends like John “Julius” Knight and the sublime like DC’s Jackie O–who by the way is returning to Lust4Life October 9–is regular again and stands poised to bring the same type of excitement, plus some, to the Mt Vernon area of Baltimore.

One of the other reasons why we are excited about Dionysus (8 E Preston St) is that it is so close to everywhere because of access to transit options. If you are already in Baltimore, there is the Downtown Circulator FREE bus service that can get you there from most of the inner-city neighborhoods, the light rail for those who might be farther out, and for those who are traveling from DC, Philly, or NYC, Penn Station. Never before has Lust4Life been so accessible.

And finally the top reasons is the music people we will be bringing through. We are aiming to top the talent we brought in before, yet, not forgetting our hometown peeps. In this vein the first show will be an all-Baltimore affair with guest DJ Calvin Garner.

See you Friday night, Sept 9 at Dionysus!
