We celebrate our time at Gazuza Lounge and the branching out of some of our own.

Yep, the ScandalDC crew has been at it for quite a while, since 2008 to be exact.  A feat that is not easy in such a fast pace, always changing environment such as electronic dance music. In fact, this anniversary is coming on the heals of changes to the current makeup of ScandalDC.

Two members of ScandalDC, Kochi and Sean, have decided to strike out on their own and focus on their partnership project called Ink House. Sean, a.k.a. DJ iLLogic said, “We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Scandal has allowed us and have enjoyed DJing with you guys.” I agree with ScandalDC founder, Mike a.k.a. DJ FugAmI in his response, “While it saddens me to see you guys go, I truly understand your decision and will continue to be a fan and supporter of iNK House.” We are family and we have enjoyed some tremendous events together as ScandalDC over the years.

ScandalDC will continue as just a two person crew for a short while. And many of you already know that I am focusing on new music production than ever before. Any fears of us leaving the scene should be put aside immediately.

Hence, we are inviting all of ScandalDC and Ink House fans to come out, to wish Ink House well, and to thank Gazuza for allowing ScandalDC to host so many successful parties in what is still one of the best lounges in the area. Saturday April 7th is a celebration of new beginnings!

It’s our first Lust4Life of the 2012 year and we are kickin’ it off with some down-home b-more flavor.  Craig Nasteef has been a maestro for some time.  He is throwing down with B-Side and I this Friday and he is bringing an all-vinyl set.

Yep,  all vinyl!!!

I’ll be slipping in a few new original sexy-cool pieces that I have co-produced with Toronto based DJ and producer, Melanie Sutherland.  B-Side also will be laying down some beats, Elly D Funk helps me host, and Ange has the perfect pour.

So, don your dancing shoes.  Bring your girl friends and your guy friends.   We are gonna have a House Party, L4L style….

So it happened again at Foundation 6. I decided to rock my “Girl I’ll House You” mGrooves T-shirt and had mad compliments on it. And, as always, I hand them my business card and say you can get one of your own. Just visit the mGrooves store on Zazzle, to which people seem to be genuinely interested. But alas, over the ooontz-ooontz-ooontz of kickin’ House music and the cool beverage of choice, it’s easily forgotten.

I would love to get the news out there about where to get this and other cool mGrooves, Lust4Life, and 4groovers gear. Chris Burns rocks a Caps Jacket -- DC flavor

This Labor Day weekend, prepare your sun block. Chris Burns graces the decks of Foundation 6 with his unique style and flair.

Chris, who can be considered the vanguard of a new generation of producers and maestros from this region, has long been a supporter and leader in the DC scene. I personally recall this underground party in a half finished town-home in upper Georgetown a few years ago was ‘da bomb’. Four levels of music, art, DC area fashion designers and some of the most cool people in the city.

Wow! Where has the summer gone? We have definitely come into the final chapters for the Oh-eleven summer season; especially for all you young and not so young school kiddies. Yeah, bitter sweet, we know.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean we all have to be sad. The summer is still in full swing. So this is what we are going to do.

First, we should introduce you to iLLogic, AKA Mr Sean L to some of you peeps. This solid music maestro has been brought to our ScandalDC crew by the one and only DJ Kochi. If you have had the privilege to catch the inaugural iNKHouse show featuring Dimitri Max and Rick of Corduroy Mavericks, or any of the ScandalDC Thursdays at Gazuza, you have seen these two (Kochi and iLLogic) in action. iLLogic brings A-game every night (or day). He will be solo this Thursday for ScandalDC.

Then Saturday we reconvene for Foundation :: 5. This month we are honored to be hosting for the incomparable Juan Zapata. This dude has been blowing people up for more than a ‘minute’ along with the rest of his crew in ELM (Everybody Loves Music). If you really don’t know, don’t just ask somebody… Show your face in the place. The details of when and where are on the flyer above.

It was a lot of fun with the Scandal crew this weekend as we had Dimitri Max as a guest. He tore up the turntables!

ScandalDC Thursdays at Gazuza

June is not here yet, but you could not tell by the day time temperatures in the Washington DC and Baltimore metro areas. So let’s just say that summer is already here. Likewise we are bringing the heat for ScandalDC’s weekly party, Thursday.

Omar will be gracing the decks with his brand of House Music joining Kochi and Ilogic

This week ScandalDC resident Kochi has invited in Sean Lowder (a.k.a. Illogic) for some funky House music support and Omar Faison for the Deep House end. Yeah, ‘we don’t need no water, let the [m-f] burn…’ (Click the image below for details, directions, etc.)

We are bringing summer heat early!

Yep, that is what we are doing. We are gathering Gazuza’s prime talent, and putting it all on a single night.

While most ScandalDC and mGrooves fans are familiar with Fugami, Kochi, and Stylo, we wanted to test the DC gods and see what would happened if we added the prime selector from Gazuza Fridays on top of the gravity of having the entire Scandal crew active on the same night. I mean, it usually only in the big spaces that you can find the 3 of us tagging music all at the same time, right?

We have even invoked the DC ‘stars and bars’ flag in the design of our flier. So if you hear about a fire, ‘we don’t need no water. Let the…” Well you get the idea.

Searching for the perfect beat?

Sammy Arsam Khosh is indeed a prime selector. Probably most noted with his excellent work with the Empresarios, his music and beats are delightful fusion of so many influences it is hard to describe. It just has to be experienced. He has plenty of solo production credit to his resume as well. Read more about Sammy here.
